The smART Project is designed to increase young people’s knowledge and understanding of their country’s Constitution, encouraging their active participation in society through Art. By integrating artistic expression with civic education, the project creates an engaging and immersive learning process, where participants explore key constitutional themes such as equality/equity, education, environment, work, war, and freedom.
To achieve these goals, the smART methodology integrates artistic education and civic engagement through structured workshops, theoretical exploration, and participatory activities. The project primarily targets youngsters aged 15-19, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, while also engaging educators and trainers, equipping them with innovative tools to foster civic discussions through art.
The smART methodology is inspired by art-based pedagogies, including Ana Mae Barbosa’s Triangular Approach, fostering a dynamic, experiential, and participatory approach to learning. Through interactive workshops, artistic experimentation, and collaborative discussions, young people analyze social and political realities and transform them into creative expressions.
The project’s success is strengthened by the collaboration between SIRIPARTE, AE2O, ARTIT, and the CRHACK LAB, each contributing their expertise.
By using art as a medium for civic engagement, the smART project empowers participants with critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and collaborative skills. Through interactive activities, they will explore constitutional rights in a practical way, fostering artistic expression and a stronger sense of active citizenship.
