{"id":506,"date":"2026-02-03T15:39:31","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T15:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/smart-constitution.eu\/?p=506"},"modified":"2026-02-03T15:39:33","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T15:39:33","slug":"when-art-meets-the-constitution-the-smart-project-experience-and-the-final-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/smart-constitution.eu\/index.php\/2026\/02\/03\/when-art-meets-the-constitution-the-smart-project-experience-and-the-final-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"When Art Meets the Constitution: The SmART Project Experience and the Final Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Within the framework of the European project <strong>SmART \u2013 Using Art to Do My Part<\/strong>, students from <strong>Greece, Portugal and Italy<\/strong> took part in a series of innovative artistic workshops focused on <strong>artistic expression, civic education and constitutional values<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshops represented an important test of the <a href=\"https:\/\/smart-constitution.eu\/index.php\/resource\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/smart-constitution.eu\/index.php\/resource\/\">methodology<\/a> developed and implemented by the project partners during the first phase of the initiative. Drawing on the backgrounds and professional expertise of the partner organisations, this process led to the creation of an <strong>international tool<\/strong> that will be valuable for future activities in the fields of art and civic education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the workshops, young participants were encouraged to reflect on their role as <strong>active citizens<\/strong> through the exploration of their national constitutions using a creative and participatory approach. Guided by educators and artists, the students followed an educational pathway that began with the study of constitutional principles and continued with the selection of significant articles related to key themes such as <strong>equality, freedom, education, work, peace and the environment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving from reflection to creation, the students then transformed these constitutional ideas into works of art, experimenting with various techniques as tools for expression and dialogue. The artistic process encouraged them to question the contemporary world, to understand citizenship as a shared responsibility, and to view the Constitution not as a distant legal text, but as a <strong>living instrument that protects rights and inspires action<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A central concept of the workshops was the idea of <strong>art as a form of resistance and awareness<\/strong>. Through collective creation, the students explored themes such as social instability, civil disobedience as a form of conscious engagement, and the importance of defending democratic values.<br>Murals, performances and symbolic materials were used to give shape to these reflections, allowing each participant to contribute their own voice and perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The artworks created during the workshops will be presented in a <strong>final exhibition in Italy on 12 February<\/strong>, where the outcomes of this international collaboration will be shared with the public.
